NAVASOTA, Texas – Find a bridge. My folks and I left Austin to photograph the countryside of East Texas in November 2014. However, traffic jammed the road at Bastrop. We discussed turning back, decided to keep going, and reached Navasota at last light. While admiring the P.A. Smith Hotel during the golden hour, a friendly lady said hello. “If you’re looking for something to photograph, there’s a beautiful railroad bridge located to the north.” We drove in circles trying to find it and came away empty. However, we returned in 2017.
Thank you to City Hall and the Navasota Garden club for keeping the Horlock House beautiful! The trees blocking the house have been removed, and the lovely ladies from the garden club are working on cleaning up left over debris from Harvey. And we have new art up on the walls! Open Wed-Sun. 9-6

We are having a Closing Reception to showcase our hard work during our time spent in the lovely Horlock Art Gallery. We have created some amazing work that we would love for everyone to see. If your in town for the Blues Fest feel free to cool off, grab a free drink, and snacks in between shows. Hope to see you there.

June went by in a blur, and July is under way! Hard to believe how fast the time is passing. Time is an artist’s most valuable resource, so I’m doing my best to make the days, hours, even seconds count. Trying to make the most of it! Continue reading “(Still) Open House!”
Friday was my last class with the kids at Webb Elementary. I wanted our final activity to be fun (of course!) and result in a work of art that they’d be able to hang in their homes. We painted glow-in-the-dark fireflies, using acrylic Continue reading “Reflections 6: Glowing Firefly paintings”
