Thank you Navasota!

Hey y’all,

I moved out of the Horlock House a couple of weeks ago, but felt that I was not ready to say goodbye to Texas just yet.  So, I just moved into an apartment in Bryan! It’s a 1 bedroom with an “office” aka art studio!  Continue reading “Thank you Navasota!”

Art Camp!

Hey y’all,

I recently taught a week-long kids’ summer fine art camp at the Arts Council.  Throughout the week the kids got to experience various activities in a variety of mediums.  On the first day Continue reading “Art Camp!”

(Still) Open House!

Hey everyone,

June went by in a blur, and July is under way!  Hard to believe how fast the time is passing.   Time is an artist’s most valuable resource, so I’m doing my best to make the days, hours, even seconds count.  Trying to make the most of it!  Continue reading “(Still) Open House!”

Reflections 6: Glowing Firefly paintings

Hello everyone!

Friday was my last class with the kids at Webb Elementary.  I wanted our final activity to be fun (of course!) and result in a work of art that they’d be able to hang in their homes.  We painted glow-in-the-dark fireflies, using acrylic  Continue reading “Reflections 6: Glowing Firefly paintings”

Reflections II & III: Earth Day & Zentangle

Happy May!

As I mentioned in my last post, I have been teaching art to two life skills classes at Webb Elementary School.  To celebrate Earth Day, we made little Earths using foam balls, blue & green tissue paper, and glue.  In the spirit of Earth Day we reused Continue reading “Reflections II & III: Earth Day & Zentangle”

Starting off strong!

2016-04-20 16.09.28

Hey everyone,

So I’ve been in Navasota for a month now and things are going great.  After 3 radio interviews, 2 art fairs, and 1 city council meeting, I’m feeling very welcomed here.  I’d say it’s a pretty good start to an awesome residency program.   Continue reading “Starting off strong!”

New in Navasota

Hey Navasota!

I’m thrilled to be an artist-in-residence in the Horlock House!  A couple weeks ago I made the 14-hour trip from my home in East Tennessee.  My first impression of Texas in a few words: open fields, ranches, cowboy hats, blue skies, blue jeans, blue bonnets.  So many blue bonnets!  I will definitely be doing a lot of plein air painting while here.   Continue reading “New in Navasota”
