Navasota is Beautiful: Book Project Update

Dear Sponsors and Friends,

Apinya and I have been thrilled by your overwhelming support for our Book Project, Navasota is Beautiful. In case you haven’t heard, we were able to raise over $4,000 for our Sponsorship Campaign! This is not only more than we had hoped–it is DOUBLE what we had hoped!

We were truly overwhelmed by your generous support for this exciting project, and we hope that you are excited about it as we are.

Because of this incredible, unexpected support, we made a few adjustments to our project and our timeline–and we wanted to share these updates with you:

  • We are now working with our first choice printing partner, a local printing press outside of Austin, rather than our second-choice printing partner, an international vendor.
  • Thanks to your generosity, we will be able to print a higher quantity of books than we had initially thought possible–which will help to make this book more widely accessible in the Navasota community.
  • We will be able to print books with higher quality than we had originally anticipated, which will enhance the art images included in the project.

In order to accommodate the above changes, we have updated our Book Release date from August 2019 to October 2019. As many of you know, Apinya Srikhwanthong has returned to San Francisco temporarily, but will return to Navasota for the Book Release Event. The book release date has NOT been scheduled yet, but we promise to let you know ASAP!

In the meantime, original art and illustrations for the Navasota is Beautiful Book Project, including artwork by Apinya Srikhwanthong, are on display and available for purchase at the Horlock Gallery in Navasota. The Gallery is open Wed.-Sun. 11am-5pm, 1215 E Washington Ave.

Thank you again for your generous support–we hope to see you soon!

Announcing ‘Navasota is Beautiful’ Art Book

Navasota Artists-in-Residence Apinya Srikhwanthong and Rebecca Dias are currently collaborating to produce Navasota is Beautiful, an easy-to-read storybook and art book about Navasota, Texas. Navasota is Beautiful will be written by Rebecca Dias and illustrated by Apinya Srikhwanthong and Rebecca Dias, with several local artist contributions. The anticipated release date is August 2019.

Apinya and Rebecca are currently accepting Sponsors to support the initial book printing cost. For more information, check out our Sponsorship Link. Thank you for your support, Navasota!

Rebecca says the following about the project:

“Apinya and I have each stayed in Navasota for almost a year now. We wanted to create something that could be a lasting gift to the community, as a thank you for our time here as artists-in-residence. Staying in a historical home, and living here, I have come to appreciate the many facets of Navasota’s history, and I have observed how Navasota is growing and changing too. We hope that this picture book can help to inspire newcomers and long-time Navasota residents alike to appreciate the history, culture and beauty of Navasota, Texas, which Apinya and I have each found in coming here. It is a book that I hope children, families and adults will be able to enjoy for many years to come.”
