Today I completed a painting. Not just any painting, but the first painting of a new series. The creation of this initial painting is usually a multifaceted maze of emotions for me. The excitement of creating something new, the pressure to make all the elements come together, and the unknown territory of new subject matter and technique, all brew a wide range of feelings during its creation.
I am working on my spontaneity, but so far that has proven unsuccessful. So presently I will have to accept the fact that I am an artist who has to work through a process, figuring out the problems and the solutions along the way. This does not take a genius, just an opinionated friend or two with a good eye that isn’t afraid to hurt your feelings. (They are always right, but please don’t tell them).
Below are shots of the painting from start to finish. Sometimes I can’t even believe the transformation.
With this one complete I am really anxious to start the next one. If you’re curious, stop by the Horlock House Wednesday thru Sunday, 9am-6pm. The price of admission is one donut;)
